I’ve always said that I don’t feel that there’s a right or wrong way to use Twitter. You can use it however you wish. The following dialogue caught me by surprise and had me thinking about Loic’s attitude when it comes to someone who didn’t appreciate his over the top promotions on Seesmic. Granted Loic can respond however he wishes. His platform is used by a ton of people, but when a user makes a statement about your promotional methods, is there a proper way to react?
Here’s the conversation…

This response sounds childish and its all because someone critiqued the way he does business. Yes, everyone is entitled to handle themselves on Twitter in any way they feel necessary and if you don’t like what someone has to say on Twitter, you can unfollow them. However, instead of addressing Jay’s concerns, Loic just redirects him away. I just don’t get it. Maybe Loic had a bad day, but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard or seen Loic act defensive.
When Jay asked other well known “internet celebrities” there thoughts on dealing with naysayers, here’s there response…
Robert says…

Gary says…

I know everyone is going to have their own opinions on this conversation, but that’s the whole reason I am posting it. Talking with people on Twitter and other social media platforms sometimes can be taken out of context because all your seeing is text. Although, text could say a whole lot especially when you treat one of your potential users like they are dirt. How do you feel about all of this? Do you think there could have been a better way to respond to Jay’s comment?
