Microsoft’s new Operating System is slowly on its way and with that they have released the beta version to download for free to the public to test as most of you already know. Many have blogged about it already and have put in their opinions. I have heard mixed reviews so far. Some have said it’s really good and a much needed improvement from Vista and others are saying there are drivers missing and it’s not that good yet. It’s understandable if it wouldn’t be that great yet considering it’s only available in be at this time.

I’d have to say after giving Windows 7 a try in a virtual machine, it is definitely a better upgrade from Vista, but still too soon to make a complete judgment call. I like some of the little add ons like the “dock” that kind of does what the Mac dock does, just not to the same level. The speed difference I definitely notice and once the actual version is released on the market, the improvements will get better. Eventually, I will use the beta version as my main OS after I have tested it out in the virtual machine.

the interface of Windows 7 is great but in my opinion Windows XP is still a very solid and stable operating system. Right now, I would never give up XP for Windows 7.

I agree 100%. Windows XP is very solid and stable. Since Windows 7 (the official version) isn’t in stores yet, we won’t know if there are any glitches until its release. I bought the pre-release of Windows 7 because I do like the interface a lot and I am tired of using XP. Although, I can’t argue with the stability of XP. Windows 7 is definitely an upgrade and significant improvement from Vista, but there’s got to be a reason why Microsoft has decided to let XP stay available until April of 2010!
