With all the applications being made for mobile devices, I’ve found one in particular that I feel is the best that advances in technology have brought us. It’s a well known and quite popular application called Shazam. It’s available for all the mobile platforms as far as I am aware.
The basic premise of the Shazam application is it can recognize a song playing on the radio and tell you the name, artist, album, and label of the song. Using the app for a song on the radio is the most common way users will use the application. Just think of it this way…you’re in the car, a song comes on that you really like, but you don’t know what it is or who its by. What do you do? Well, if you have Shazam installed, open the application, hold your phone near the radio speaker and click the “tag now” button on the application. It’s that simple! It doesn’t matter what section of the song you “tag” because Shazam recognizes any part of the song. I know what your next question is going to be. How much is it? It’s FREE, it costs you nothing.
The two things I like a lot about this application is it eliminates the days of saying, “I wish I knew the name of that song” and it doesn’t cost me a dime. Not to mention, the usability of the app is beyond simple! Usability is always a huge feature for me when it comes to any application. The simpler the app is to use, the more likely I am to use it or recommend it. Everyone knows there are a ton of apps out there and I’m not likely to recommend any of them because none of them really blow me away. Shazam solves a problem that most people have had in the past. Let me stress, you can use this application anywhere music is playing and the speaker is close enough to your phone to recognize the music.
To get a better understanding of what I am saying, here’s the official video explaining Shazam:
Technology advancements really allow for unlimited possibilities and that’s why I’m always eager to learn about the next big thing. Just think…3-5 years ago, this wasn’t possible. That’s what I feel new technology does. It makes the impossible, possible. Even if there’s something you wish was available today, don’t get discouraged. I can guarantee within the next 10 years that technology will be created.
Are you using Shazam? What do you think of it? Does it solve a problem for you like it did for me a while back? I’d really like to know of any other applications you feel make a significant difference. Granted as I mentioned earlier, there are tons of applications, but very few in my opinion that truly solve a problem for people. So, give it a shot…give me an app to try out!
