These past few days TechCrunch held its “TechCrunch Disrupt” (TechCrunch Disrupt). A gathering of executives, web innovators, social web, and technology. This conference is a great way to see what is new in the technology world, but also how we can take things one step further. One of the highlights is that TechCrunch will pick one new company or technology as its winner. After three days, “one startup will win and take home $50,000 to continue building their vision”. I think that this is a great way to learn about smaller companies that are not popular or well known yet. This years winner was Soluto.
Soluto is a Israeli-based start-up company that was founded in 2007. Their vision I think will attract many people I know and also help millions of users all over the world. They want to help you make your computer run faster and provide you with a “Anti-Frustration Software”. The way it works is that with the help of Soluto you can see why your computer is running slow. For example, is a print job you thought you canceled, still running; a new app on your desktop or dock that is not working right; or any other little things causing your whole computer to run slow? Soluto wants to help allow you to use your computer for how you intended to use it.
Soluto is also working on the “PC Genome”. This project is a way to see why our computers are running slow. With the help of all of Soluto’s users, PC Genome will inform us on what apps, programs, updates, and other things that are causing our computer to run slow. Essentially Soluto is taking data from everyone and collecting it into one big database. This is definitely another thing that I will be looking forward too.
I think this is a great service and I am looking forward to see what is next for these guys and my own personal testing of their software. I see both my family and friends getting frustrated over the fact that their computer is running slow and have to just live with it, but not for long. I know that my own computers like to give me problems from time to time, just like everyone else. It will be nice to see why these things keep happening. As of right now Soluto’s service is only in beta and you can sign-up for it at Soluto’s main site soluto.com. But hopefully with the $50,000, Soluto can continue their work.
I would like to thank both TechCrunch and Soluto for all their work, they both are helping millions of user all over the world with their services.
