After using the Windows 7 beta version for the entire period of it’s existence, I was extremely pleased to see the progress made from Vista. The improvements had me overjoyed and excited to own the official release of Windows 7. However, as I have stated in the past that I don’t like Microsoft and what I am about to discuss will explain my frustration.
Since the Windows 7 beta was reaching it’s expiration period, I was ready to install the Windows 7 release client. I figured it was better idea than going back to XP and waiting for the official release. I thought, I’ll use the release client and continue to interact with Windows new operating system. That didn’t go as planned. For some bizarre reason, I couldn’t complete the installation of the release client. To say I was pissed would be an understatement. It just gave me another reason to give Microsoft the finger! I knew my Dell E1705 laptop could support Windows 7 because I already used the beta version on the machine. So why isn’t the release client working?
After countless attempts of trying to install the release client, I had no choice except to go back to using XP. I have nothing against XP whatsoever or Windows 7 for that matter. The only issue is XP is outdated (big time) and the release client is giving me problems. Not only is XP outdated, but I realized that after using Windows 7 beta that it automatically installs the correct drivers on to your system. How simple is that! I think Vista had this ability too. (That was probably the only slight positive about Vista.) Anyway, having to switch back to XP until my official copy of Windows 7 comes made me realize how outdated XP is. The operating system works fine, but how realiable are the drivers?
I was able to install all the XP drivers successfully, but even after doing so, my audio drivers will not work. I mean, come on! Are you serious? There’s an issue with device manager so I am going to have to delve deeper into it. Since this issue is beyond my knowledge, I’m hoping my cousing who’s an IT technician will be able to help me out!
I do love technology, but here’s a prime example of the frustrations that it can cause you. Hopefully this issue will be fixed, but honestly I just want to use the release client at this point and then move on to the Windows 7 official version. XP has its course and has been very successful, but there’s a time where everything must come to an end. XP is showing it’s age and the release client…what the hell!
Has anyone else had this issue with the release client? Have you ever had problems on XP with your audio drivers? It’s always something with Windows and I think I hear Apple calling my name!
