This is a guest post from Michael Banks who shares in this quick article why the privacy issues that have been surrounding Facebook aren’t as big of a deal as people are making them out to be. Facebook isn’t going anywhere and I combine this guest post with the “video of the week” as a response agreeing with Mike.

This is the start of my “Video of the Week.” I will have one of these types of videos posted every Monday. So, what has been really interesting to me is the heat Facebook is taking from well known internet entrepreneurs. I wanted to talk about what they are saying and my thoughts on what they’re saying and these damn design layouts.

Are you on Facebook? Well if you are reading this, you probably are. The majority of the world is on Facebook with its user base growing each day. However, have you noticed that there seems to be an increase in the amount of Facebook applications? Aren’t they annoying? They seem more like spam than something useful. Do you feel that people get to into using these useless applications and it takes away from the experience?

It can be hard to decide whether or not you want to be a member of a new social network. There’s a lot of deciding factors that go into it. You know you want to be apart of something that you know others are in, but would you take a chance and join a social network that wasn’t number one in the charts? I recently tried this with a gradually growing social network in FriendFeed.

Have you ever stopped and wondered if Facebook was in panic mode? Granted they are a great social network, but it seems that ever since they started trying to compete with Twitter, they have always been trying to gain an edge on them. I think both companies are here to stay, but I believe Twitter has a strong advantage over Facebook when comparing the two. Facebook buying FriendFeed has me wonder…what are they trying to prove?

One major important thing about social networks is to learn the difference between online social networks and business social networks. Although they may seem like the same thing, they are quite different. Do you understand why the difference between the two is important to know?

Do you use social bookmarking often? I for one am not a fan of it. It doesn’t provide me with anything more that a social network can’t give me. Sites like Digg are more focused on “what’s hot” instead of giving everyone an equal chance to be noticed. Should social bookmarking take a lesson from social networks?

I have been noticing a lot of hype around FriendFeed lately. Honestly it has me confused. This social network doesn’t receive any media attention, yet it gets plenty around the blogosphere. New features are always being added, but I don’t see any value it provides. Seems like a combination of two social networking sites I think we all know well!
