Sometimes, I wonder if the developers and manufacturers don't think their products all the way through and may be hurting themselves in the open market. 2009 had a few products with negative effects on them and I wonder if 2010 will see some positive upgrades. What do you think?

I tend to do a lot of reading on other technology blogs around the web. I like keeping up on the headlines and major news going around in the tech universe. However, there have been 3 recent things that have caught my attention and made me question whether 2010 will have positive upgrades in technology. Now, I know technology is always expanding which is what makes the customer want more, but what happens if the current technology available isn’t doing the job? Then there’s cause for concern.

So, the three things in particular that made me raise this question were:

1. The Apple Tablet
2. TechCrunch Tablet
3. iMac 27 inch

Three promising and highly sought after products, but each with their own story which leads into my questioning about upgrades in technology. Let’s start with the TechCrunch tablet. This was basically a failure. It generated a lot of buzz and many people were looking forward to it, but what happened? It got canceled and became obsolete before even being released. Then there’s the Apple Tablet. Boy, can they make up their minds with this one. First they are making it, then they aren’t, now they are again. Seems like decision making is a lost art form! I guess the right design was difficult to find in the beginning and they weren’t getting the outcomes they expected, but now they are going forward with it. Finally, the iMac 27 inch. The Ultimate looking monitor and an overall beautiful machine. However, there have been constant complaints from customers and whenever those problems are addressed, new one’s seem to form.

These three major product announcements began in 2009. We are now officially in 2010 and with these problems coming up, I wonder if technology is going beyond us. Meaning are programmers and those creating the products manufacturing something that just isn’t ready yet? It almost seems like for these kinds of products that we are stretching the boundaries of technology and pushing it to its limits. If this keeps up, will 2010 see new products just come and go? Will there be a product released successfully. It just seems like 2009 ended with serious questions being raised in the technology realm. Three major products with constant questions being raised from the media and consumers. Will the questions be answered and what will be the first new technology to achieve success in 2010?

Don’t get me wrong. I love technology and I love when new products are released to check out. Who doesn’t love that? However, it’s still good to question technology because people are always skeptical of a new product. You ask, “will this perform to the degree it was advertised to be?” These are normal questions and even though I think 2010 will have positive upgrades in technology, I hope the negativity that surrounded these three products in 2009 doesn’t carry over. Technology will never be perfectly sound, but maybe the designers and manufactures shouldn’t be in a rush to release the product and make sure it has all the bugs worked out!

So, do you agree? Do you think positive upgrades can happen in 2010? Or, is technology reaching a slow point? I’d be interested in what you have to say. This post struck me as something that needed to be addressed because it was on my mind and I thought other people may feel the same after reading. Any thoughts?
