With so many social networks out there today and many opportunities to connect with people and build different types of relationships, which one is above the rest? First, we have to consider the top 3 social networks going today. In my opinion, the networks with the most users are Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. Obviously everyone is going to have their own opinion about what the best social network is, but I have a feeling these are the three that are most used. In breaking each one of them down, I have come to a conclusion that Twitter is the best and most dominant (as far as popularity and users). The amount of users that create an account continues to grow more and more each day. Why is this? I think it’s pretty simple why…it’s easy to use! It asks one simple question: “What are you doing right now?” You can’t get any easier than that. It’s a good way to meet different types of people that talk about the same topics you do. I also think with the many applications made for Twitter has increased the amount of users because now those using Twitter can keep track of their followers or who they are following right on their desktop.
Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t to say Facebook is a bad social network. I think it’s great as well, especially for college students. Considering I am a college student, I find this to be the most beneficial when trying to get in touch with my fellow classmates. Although, I believe it’s not as popular at this time, as Twitter.
Finally, as far as MySpace; I think it’s falling apart! With a terrible user interface and ads surrounding the entire web page…it seems too cluttered to me. Also, I have noticed when the pages load from one to another, it’s really slow. I don’t know about you, but I find this to be particularly funny: MySpace came before Facebook and now Facebook is a lot more popular than MySpace. Not only that, MySpace now copies everything Facebook does just to stay in competition with them. I have a feeling that one day MySpace will become obsolete, but that won’t be for a while because it still has many users. I liked the service when it first started, but not anymore. What do you think of the “Social Network Battle” that goes on everyday? Who is at the top of the list for you?

If you want to update your social statuses all at once I find a good method is the autopost feature of Posterous.
you can post to facebook, twitter,…

Funny enough, with how much Posterous gets attention and talked about, I’ve never cared to use it. Do you find it to be a useful social network? When it comes to auto-posting to multiple networks, I’ve always found Ping.fm to be the most effective.
