Well, I have mentioned in the past that I think MySpace is a piece of garbage.  This news though I couldn’t help but share because MySpace keeps showing how pathetic they have become.  In an article by Tech Crunch, it is noted that MySpace has a new CEO Jonathan Miller.  Can you believe it?  A new CEO of a company!    You know what I have to say to that?  I could care less!  Apparently this guy doesn’t even have a MySpace profile.  You have to read the article.  It’s just sad seeing that this is what the company has become.  A no-name CEO without a profile page representing the company he now owns! Are you kidding me?  Even though MySpace is still pretty popular, (at least among high school students) it has probably the worst looking interface I have ever seen!  I think the photo I found for this post says wonders!

It’s really interesting for me to take a step back and realize that MySpace was the first social network I was a member of.  That’s where my community engagement started.  I never thought I would have this angst towards them.  At this point for me, it’s not a shocker.  Facebook has proven its dominance over MySpace, especially with MySpace implementing every strategy that Facebook uses.  That’s why I get frustrated!  Does MySpace even have a business model anymore?  This is probably how they do business now – “we do what Facebook does.”

Now there’s this no big money man CEO who owns control over the company and he himself has no interaction with the website at all.  Zuckerberg has interaction with Facebook.  It would only make sense for a CEO to interact with their brand.  However, this is why I say and will continue to say that MySpace is on a steady decline.  Granted this is my opinion, but what kind of a message is it sending if the new CEO doesn’t engage with the site at all.  Now he has no idea what users are looking for to gain the competitive advantage.

This is all one man’s opinion.  How do you feel about this recent acquisition? Does MySpace frustrate you as much as it does me?
