There’s too many users on these social networking platforms causing problems. What do I mean? Well, you see it everyday, actually. You know, those people that verbally abuse or call you out while hiding behind a site like Twitter or Facebook. Honestly, have some of these social networks created a new breed of cowards? Most of these people are immature kids who think they “know it all” and feel the need to put someone else down for either voicing their opinion or stating facts.
The negativity that surrounds these people throughout social media is there way of getting that 10 seconds of fame. We all know what they are after, but let’s face it…they become isolated from the community quickly by those who want nothing to do with them. The question is, what do we do to remove this negativity? Bottom line is you can’t, but that doesn’t mean we can’t send our message in a positive manner. So, for all those individuals out there who think their opinions mean jack shit…here’s what I say to you:
1. You’re opinions are irrelevant. If what you’re saying online is something you wouldn’t say face to face, don’t say it at all. Not only do you make yourself look bad, but if the person on the other end has some intelligence, they are going to put you in your place.
2. Do something productive with your life. If you have all this negative energy to put on someone else, how about you use all that bull shit and do something useful to help others.
3. Do you find the need to criticize others because what you are doing isn’t as successful as the person you’re “attacking?” If so, I’ve got some words for you – work harder!
4. How would you feel if someone was “attacking” you in a social media environment where you’re just trying to interact and share your thoughts? It is OK to let other people speak their mind every once and a while. Where do these people get off thinking they know all?
5. Live and let live. Has everyone forgotten about this saying? If someone else thinks differently than you do, fine. Let them do what they want and you do what you want. If you can’t live by those guidelines than you’re going to live a lonely life.
Let me just make it clear that I didn’t write this post because someone was verbally attacking me on social networking sites. It is something I have seen done to many well known people in the industry and I really just had enough of it. I believe with how computers have consumed our daily lives has created a lot of trolls. These trolls like nothing better than throwing their two cents of negativity in a world where we can use more positivity.
