Not too long ago I was saying I would never join DailyBooth because I felt it was just another version of TwitPic or Flickr. Was I ever wrong! After talking with Roberto Hoyos, the founder of Throwboy.com – I learned that it was a live stream except with pictures. I checked out it and immediately saw value with this site. I feel the site is a live photo version of Twitter and it’s a fantastic concept. This was a social network I wanted to be a part of and so I joined. Roberto was the second person to explain what DailyBooth was to me, but Mike Buechele was the first and he did a fantastic job with separating DailyBooth from TwitPic and Flickr. Basically he said, DailyBooth was a live stream of photos, TwitPic was an “at the moment, quick picture concept,” and Flickr was more of a photo album. Hearing this from two people made me realize, it’s time to check it out!
Right off the bat, DailyBooth has had a strong and well established community with people that are eager to interact. That’s always a huge question mark for me when checking out a new social network. Do they have an engaging community? If they don’t, that’s not something I want to be a member of, but if they do…count me in. Immediately after posting my first picture, I was receiving comments and like a good participant in social media, I responded to everyone. (I think that’s a plus to building your own community! Always answer people.) Like I said, I’m not really into taking pictures, but if it just means taking one a day of what I am doing at the current time – that just intrigues me.
Twitter is pretty much a social life stream of people announcing what they are doing, sharing daily events, headline news, etc. However, DailyBooth brings this to another level with images. Now you not only can see what people are sharing, but now you have a visual and most people respond and can interact more to something visual than just text. Twitter is still my favorite social network, but I have been spending a lot of time on DailyBooth interacting with the things others are sharing. DailyBooth is definitely my second favorite social network because I feel it’s a place where I can interact and meet new people like I do on Twitter.
Gary Vaynerchuk is an Angel Investor with DailyBooth and that’s another reason why I felt it was something worth getting involved in. Gary definitely understands when a game changing platform comes around and if you or anyone else takes his advice, you can’t go wrong. If it wasn’t for Roberto and Mike recommending DailyBooth to me I probably would have never have got started in this community. It’s funny how someone building up a new social media tool can get you to become as addicted to it as they are!
Are you on DailyBooth? If not, after hearing my two cents, are you going to create an account? I think you should because it’s a lot of fun and it’s something new and original. If you currently are using DailyBooth, I’d like to hear your thoughts on it and how you are interacting with others. (Follow me on DailyBooth)
