Cate Colgan of Cate.TV is a video blogger and social media enthusiast who believes that using social networks is a way to help connect other people. She explains that we need to stop thinking that using these social networks is about “YOU” as an individual, but rather “EVERYONE” in the community. Establishing new connections and introducing new people that may share a similar interest is what Cate loves to do.
In this quick video for Social Media Class she provides a lot of value in such a short amount of time. Her thoughts about community while engaging in social networks is something we all need to absorb. Take a step back, help someone else out. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Cate and interacting with her. Her energetic personality shows her passion and it’s that kind of energy that helps to fuel the social media fire!
I think these social media classes are great and I feel her teaching the importance of engaging with her people shows how far we’ve come as people. It’s becoming more about listening and helping others. That’s how you get known and that’s how social networks are meant to be used.
What did you think of the video? Sometimes a short message tells a lot. How do you feel about the way we use social networks to connect? Do you think enough people are giving back and introducing people like Cate?
