Lately, there has been some controversy over Facebook’s Privacy changes and settings. Some people have been deleting their accounts because of it, but I think the damage has been done. Too many people around the world have attached themselves to Facebook, and to some it’s a privacy issue, but to the majority it doesn’t bother them.  Itt is an effective tool that you can use to find old classmates and it’s one of the primary ways you can contact others online. Another reason Facebook remains dominant right now is because there is nothing prominent online with enough users to challenge Facebook or offer the same experience. I’m familiar with a few organizations that are developing an “open” social network, but I fear that it will be at least 3 years before we will see something that draws attention of current Facebook users. I predict something will have to challenge it in the future, whether it is another social network or some other tool that will better connect us to those important to us.
