Facebook is widely considered to be a distraction for students. However, Facebook has more than 200 education-related applications. Let’s take a look at some of the best Facebook education applications used by students.

  • Study Groups: Students can create groups to work together outside of the classroom. They can share notes, work on a group project, discuss assignments, and help each other prepare for tests.
  • Quiz Monster: Create your own quizzes with this application. Asking questions is an excellent technique for getting ready for tests.
  • Flash Cards: Create virtual flash cards to prepare for exams.
  • Ask a Teacher: Students have the opportunity to get answers to their questions from a community of teachers. Hopefully the answers are correct!
  • 10-minute SAT Test: This provides a simulated SAT test that students can take in about ten minutes. Don’t freak out if the short test takes an hour to complete! Just study some more and consider finding a tutor.
  • SAT Quest: Offers a collection of short games to prepare students for the SAT.
  • To Do List: Students can organize their school assignments.
  • BooksiRead: Students can share the books they’re reading, including those for school assignments.
  • WikiseekSearch: Use this tool to find Wikipedia articles and more via Facebook.
  • Mathematical formulas: This application distributes formulas, solutions, and other things. It might not be the most exciting thing on Facebook, but it is useful.
  • Zoho Online Office: Students can keep all of their documents online and share them with classmates.
  • HeyMath!: Mini-movies explain difficult math concepts. How does a Saturday Night of cheese puffs, soda, and a math movie sound?
  • Notely: Students can use this application to organize their school lives.
  • Get Homework Help: Students connect with tutors and other students to get help with their assignments. This is a great tool if your having trouble with some difficult concepts.
  • Notecentric: Take notes inside of Facebook and share them with other students.
  • Class Notes: Find scanned notes from classes on Facebook.

So you see, Facebook isn’t only a time waster. It can actually help you study!
